A Message from Chief Michael R. Carswell

Let me begin by saying that I will never take the responsibility I carry as your Chief of Police lightly or with anything less than all the respect, courage, and dedication that the badge and you, the citizens of Holly Springs, deserve. My decision to devote my career to law enforcement was not out of the desire for power, but out of the deep desire I have to serve those that I share a community with.

As your Chief of Police, know that I am committed to accountability, respect, and honest communication with the community I serve. The goal of everything I do, of everything this department does, is to enhance the quality of life in Holly Springs for residents and visitors alike. If you spend any time with me, you will probably catch me saying something like, “I will not just put a body behind a badge.” I am not just a body behind a badge. I am a real person who laughs, bleeds, and cries just like you. I consider it the highest honor and privilege to serve you, my fellow citizens and neighbors, and I am humbled by the trust that you have bestowed upon me.
I have worked diligently to staff our police department with men and women who feel the same way I do about serving and protecting our City. The men and women behind HSPD badges are among the very best in the nation. Guided by four key principals, Honesty, Service, Professionalism, and Dedication, the sworn officers of our department are constantly reaching new professional heights as individuals and as a collective department. I love to lead others, I love to teach others how to lead, and as long as I am in command, I pledge to make certain our officers have the tools they need to succeed professionally and the tools they need to keep you safe.

I encourage you to get to know the officers who serve you by participating TRACE meetings, Citizens Police Academy, and the Friends of Holly Springs Police Foundation. Also, if you see an HSPD officer out in the community, please don’t hesitate to stop and introduce yourself. If you have questions about our police department, or policing in general, feel free to stop by the Public Safety building and talk with one of our officers.

Warm Regards,
Chief Michael Carswell
